John Skoyles

John Skoyles has published eight books of poems, most recently, That’s Where You Come In. His books of prose include A Moveable FamineThe Nut File, and Driven.  He has taught at Southern Methodist University, Sarah Lawrence College, Warren Wilson College (where he directed the MFA program) and Emerson College. He has also served as the Executive Director of the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and as the Editor-in-Chief and Poetry Editor (2007-2025) of Ploughshares. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York TimesThe Paris Review, and The Atlantic, among others. He has received two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts as well as fellowships from the New York and North Carolina Arts Councils. He lives in New York City.
