CNN Tries To Be Funny, Fails PDF E-mail

In what (I assume) can only be an attempt to emulate Onion-style humor, CNN has begun selling T-shirts with its “Latest Headlines” printed on them.

Unlike The Onion, however, these T-shirts just aren't funny:

Granted, CNN does have some amusing headlines at times, but it’s the randomness of the selected headlines that confuses me. For example, instead of “Millions of honeybees fill house,” why isn’t there a T-shirt symbol next to “Blogger exposes Al Franken.” At least it’s a double entendre that could be funny.

Other non-funny T-shirts include:

And the ever-popular:

Am I missing something here? Or does the humor lie in the fact that the headlines are so random? What do you think? Better yet, what headline would you like to see on a CNN T-shirt?

I'm ordering "Bleeding, greasy man stuck in vent" for my mom for mother's day. I think she'll like it.

greaseman, may I recommend the more appropriate "Girl carries secret baby to hospital, still attached." If that doesn't warm your heart for the holiday...

Agreed that the product doesn't make much sense. The bigger issue, which Allen Wastler of CNBC points out, is CNN commercializing its news. He writes "That's like opening up a ... a ... well, a tee shirt stand in the middle of a church. You don't commercialize your headlines. That's a no-no. Your headline is how you impart news, your core product and mission, to your reader. It's not about making a buck."

I'm curious to see if we start getting headlines that are more "tee-shirt worthy." The tees shaping the headlines is a real concern.
I'll go with the black one

I'm sorry, did you all say something? Because I was just busy ordering my "Boy mends shoes to support family of 9" shirt.
