The Coolest Firefox Add-on Ever PDF E-mail

Every once in awhile, something comes along that impresses even the most jaded Internet addict. For me, that happened today with PicLens by cooliris, and I just had to tell you about it.

This post is meant to be short because there is no way to capture verbally how amazing PicLens is visually. So, I’ll just give you the basics.

First, download and install Firefox. Yes, PicLens works on multiple browsers, but Firefox is the best, in my correct opinion. If you don’t already use Firefox regularly, you should. It’s better than Internet Explorer or Safari, and it has a bunch of cool add-ons as well. To be honest, Firefox had me at the ability to right-click and search. That is just sweet. (I think I just outed myself as an Internet aficionado. Some might say dork, but I prefer aficionado.) Basically, Firefox allows you to customize your web experience, and PicLens should be part of that experience.

Second, go here to download Pic Lens. Download and install.

Third, restart Firefox. (They'll tell you this, but I thought I would too.)

Then, Google image search for something that interests you. For instance, you could search for wine (ah, lovely wine). You’ll notice as you hover over the first image that a little play button appears in the bottom left. Click that play button and “be transported to a magical world.” Basically, all the image results will be on one screen and you can scroll through them seamlessly.

You’ll discover many cool ways to use Pic Lens, but I just wanted to provide a quick intro. Believe me, you’ll be echoing these reviews before you’re through.

So, what are you waiting for? Go play!

I have to use Explorer at work (or at least I think I do), but I have Firefox at home. Will definitely fire this bad boy up tonight. Thanks for the tip.

I wouldn't think you'd be forced to use Explorer (unless you work for MS, of course), but it works for Explorer too, just fyi.

Highlight the text and right click and it should have search as an option.

Right click works with MS, too

I have Explorer at work with the Google toolbar add on, and right click search is a feature. I didn't know about until reading this post, though. So thanks!
