Or more accurately, Xylitol sweetener junkies.

I know, Hershey.  There are only so many ways to innovate when it comes to dissolvable strips of mouthwashy goodness. But c’mon, guys?  What were you thinking?

I'd love to party with their R&D staff

Amazing. How did something like this even get beyond the initial brainstorm phase, much less product development and testing? Um, right. In an age when kids are cutting cocaine with strawberry Kool-aid to make it taste better, let's not so much exacerbate the problem.

"It’s designed to look like a breath mint and nothing else."

To think that they would have made it all the way through product development and marketing without anyone raising an eyebrow over the obvious street dealer connection. Right.

You have to wonder if there aren’t competitors of Hershey’s working inside their product development labs ruminating every day on: "How can we create a product that will help destroy Hershey’s reputation?"

Amy Jussel has an extended look at this on ShapingYouth.org, too:

I'm continually amazed by how we make mistakes, and lose our sense of humor at the same time. I remember my great joy at getting those horrid candy cigarettes as a kid. So sophisticated, so hideous in taste. They didn't make me smoke, ever. In fact, they likely deterred me from it since I engaged in the "pretend" version. I know our addictions have increased in kind and degree as a population, but candy is candy and maybe is a little bit of a joke, too. Calling it "ice" isn't smart - but it is funny.
