Hello Unbound Edition Faithful,
First off, thank you so much for visiting the site. We
appreciate your comments and your patronage. Do not hesitate to let us know
anything else we can do to make your experience better.
So, to steal some thunder from our good friend Gary Vaynerchuk,
I have a question of the day. The basis for my question is one of user
experience and comes from being a professional Web surfer. (Very cool. I know.)
Obviously, in this Web 2.0 world, sites have hyperlinks
within their articles or simply links to content aggregated to the site. On
many, when you click the hyperlink, it clicks through to the site hyperlinked, taking
you, in the same window, to the link’s destination. For instance, if you visit
the Drudge Report, and you click on one of the links, then you’ll
leave the Drudge and go to that site.
However, on other sites, when you click the hyperlink, a new window pops up,
taking you away from the site so you can read article linked. When you close
that window, you’re back at the site you found the link on. For instance, when
you click on a link on Unbound Edition (like the link to Drudge above), a new
window pops up.
So, the quick question that I have for everyone is: What do you
prefer? I’m going to let majority rule here. Personally, when I visit any site,
I always right click and open the link in a new window or tab anyway, so my
experience never really changes regardless of the site's default functionality.
However, this site isn’t about me. It’s about you. So, I want to have it
function in a way that pleases the most people.
What is the most preferred way
for a website to function? Please let me know in the comments section.
Thanks in advance for the input.
