Did you hear the news? Last night on the Daily Show, Stephen Colbert officially announced that he was officially considering whether or not he would announce he would run for president. He said that he was going to make that announcement soon, just on a more prestigious show.

So, after thinking it over deeply, he decided to make his big announcement. Roll it:

I, for one, couldn’t be happier. This is the man I think should be president. And I think the media needs to get on board.

Whether we like it or not, ultimately, the media decides who our next president will be. Qualifications, experience, competence, etc. These are all nice and good, but they are more or less the irrelevant. Who the media decides to focus on and what they decide on focus on about that person, unmistakably influences the electorate. You don’t think so? See this guy?

Sure, the media can be manipulated and shrewd political minds can accomplish this in profound ways. However, who better to manipulate the media than Colbert? He’d have fun, they’d have fun and we’d have fun. A true win/win/win.

So, come on media, focus on Colbert. Sure, he’s only running in South Carolina as a “favorite son,” but we all know it doesn’t matter if you turn the spotlight on him. He tossed his hat in the ring, now put your cameras on him and let’s get the president, er, hero America really needs and deserves.

If I can’t sway you, perhaps these will:

And, if for some reason those didn't sway you, then here are nine more reasons Stephen Colbert should be president.

"The fee to be considered for the Democratic ballot is $2,500, while it’s a hefty $35,000 to gain admittance into the Republican primary."

I'd vote for him in a heartbeat if he was on the ballot.
